Autumn 09 issue out now
Welcome to the web site for Extra-Curricular Magazine.
XCM is a new magazine for teachers in London belonging to Higher Education providers in the capital and managed by London University's Institute of Education. It is published once a term and delivered free of charge to all schools, colleges, pupil referral units, LEAs and HE institutions in the capital.
The magazine is sponsored by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, a charity which takes a special interest in increasing teacher recruitment in shortage subject areas. Though XCM dedicates regular features to maths, science, design and technology, it provides information and entertainment on all subjects to all past and present, existing and aspiring teachers in the capital.
There are about 80,000 full and part-time educators in London working in unique and challenging circumstances and this is their opportunity to share ideas, practices and concerns. XCM strikes a balance between realising the challenges of working in particularly demanding circumstances and sharing the enjoyment, humour and visions of teachers in the capital. XCM aims to give, as far as possible, independent and objective news coverage and is also free of commercial imperatives.
The registration link at the top of the page allows you to order copies of XCM if your school has not received any and you may choose to receive email alerts at the time of publication which will provide you with an overview of content. You may also choose to view current and previous editions of the magazine in PDF format.
There is also an ongoing discussion forum where you are invited to discuss relevant and topical issues with other teachers around the capital. This is monitored and frequently updated.
Please keep in mind the option of contacting us with your ideas; this magazine belongs to teachers in London and we would be grateful for all your input and feedback. The easiest way to be in touch is email, details are held under the contact us link.
Thank
you for visiting the web site, I hope you enjoy reading the magazine and I look
forward to hearing your ideas.
